Dynamic and Steady State Analysis of 3-Phase Induction Motor

Abstract

This paper presents the dynamic and steady state analysis of 3-phase induction motor. Given the supply voltage of 220v, 50HZ and machine’s parameters generated, the average value of torque developed verses speed showing what is normally termed the braking , motoring and generating region of the machine was shown. In the motoring region, the developed torque is in the direction of rotation. The generating region is above synchronous speed, and the developed torque is opposite to the direction of rotation. In braking region, the developed torque is in the direction of the excitation m.m.f., but opposite to the direction of the rotor rotation. The simulation of the induction motor shows how the parameters such as q-axis current, d-axis current, electromagnetic torque and speed varies with the variation in externally applied mechanical torque.
